Dressing the Part
In Dressing the Part by Collette Lyons, the Stylist magazine “explores the role costume plays in creating a character - not just on-screen but in our own lives too.” In anticipation of the opening of Hollywood Costume at the V&A, I think it’s important to consider the role costume designers play in creating characters in television, movies, and on stage. The article is very well written and brings to light the importance of the work completed by costume designers. It was also interesting to read that the exhibition will feature extensive explanations concerning the design and psychology behind each ensemble. I’d love to hear reviews from anyone who is fortunate enough to attend Hollywood Costume this fall and winter so please let me know if you make it to the show!
