On July 30, twenty-one milliners from the United Kingdom revealed their most recent creations. For the Hatwalk Initiative, Stephen Jones, Philip Treacy, and nineteen other milliners created bespoke headpieces for the heads of landmarks such as Nelson’s Column in Trafalgar Square, Sir Winston Churchill in Bond Street, and King George IV in Trafalgar Square. According to Jones, ”I am thrilled to be able to showcase British millinery during the year of the Olympics in London.”
The Hatwalk Initiative was commissioned by the Mayor London in partnership with the British Fashion Council and the London 2012 Festival. Once the initiative is finished, each hat will be auctioned off to raise money for the Mayor’s Fund, which supports charitable causes.
